I was coming back from fishing the snohomish river (dont ask) with my father inlaw and nearing the everett boat ramp when i saw it. I'm not sure what it was other then a boat but i have a idea. It looked to be a cat hull with no superstructure. Just a steering station. No color to the hull and no wn numbers or name. It looked to be a d-dory cat hull with, wait for it wait.... a I/o drive. So you add all this up and I'm thinking TEST BED BOAT. Sorry I did not get a photo. It may have been a Glacer bay hull but did not apper to be to me. I have gone on line and looked and I still think c-dory cat test bed. Has any one else heard anything????

I dont drink and boat, and it was way to big to be a ceter console boat. the steering station was very temp set up and not on center line. the fact that there where no WN number on the hull or maker markings leads me to beleive that it was a test hull. I mean it was a total bare hull. no fishing gear or gear of any sort for that matter. just the helm and throttle. no electronics either. I was really interested in the I/O drive.

How big was the boat? The Maine "P" cat prototype is for sale (it was in Maine last I heard). This started out as the Maine Cat 38 and ended up as the 47. It has a small steering station--semi protected wheel house--temporary.

The prototype seems like a bargin--at $160K--the fully finished boats are really great--but cost in the $700K range.

Glacier Bay has gone thru some re-structuring --I have not heard of any new boats in the works...

Could it have been one of the BlackFeather ChilKat 30?--this is built on a C Dory hull (the molds were sold separately from the sale to the Reynolds) But those are mostly outboard powered.

There are a number of other cats--and a few have been diesel I/O powered. If you get a photo, someone might be able to ID it.

Bob It was a 25 to maybe 30 ft boat. No bigger. Wish I had a camera at the time. Th glacier bay had a different underside then the tom cat and the tomcat has the lap sides like this boat.
