A Lovely Walk on the Beach at Birch Bay!

Patty, Baxter and I just got back from a lovely walk on the beach at Birch Bay (stopped raining just long enough, Jim!), wonderful view over the Bay out to Saturna Island (Tumbo Island and Cabbage Island are right in front of Saturna). Sorry for the poor quality, it's a phone - it's a camera - it's a phone, you get the idea!

Indeed a lovely view - I have only seen it from the opposite direction (as you have) from Reef Harbour at Cabbage and Tumbo Islands. As a side note - when out I usually launch empty wine bottles with a note inside with my name, email, date and place of launch. The last one I launched last summer was north end of Tumbo Channel. It washed up on the beach at Birch Bay two weeks later.
 
George Vancouver named Birch Bay in 1792 and used it to anchor his ships while sending smaller boats out to explore and chart the coastline. The thread about charts versus GPS seems really trivial when you think about Captain Cook and George Vancouver! Here is an interesting article about Vancouver...
